Our aims...
Swachhalay- Sanitation Drive to 2019, supports the UN sanitation campaign working to meet the Millennium Development Goal sanitation target and end open defecation. We intend to take actions towards achieving sanitation and hygiene for all by targeting the poorest and most vulnerable people.
Swachhalay is an initiative to make Mumbai more sustainable and hygienic. Most of us agree that Sanitation is a sensitive issue and an unpopular subject. Perhaps that is why the sanitation crisis has not been met with the kind of response we need - but that must change!
Our young and ambitious team are already on ground interacting with local citizens, Municipal Corporation authorities, students, etc . We would even inspect nearby toilets and after approvals, would begin optimising 2 nearby public toilets on a trial basis by ensuring cleanliness, proper water supply, electricity and rectify any drainage issue. We even plan to approach schools and colleges to paint and design these toilets through graffiti.
We than shall document our research and share the same by sending letters to the Muncipal Authorities and government officials. We would even make a blueprint for an ideal toilet which will be built by us and other collaborative agencies. After the meetings and discussions with the authorities, we would commence on initiating mega awareness drives in schools, hospitals, etc on why Sanitation is such an important requirement. On a later stage, we would begin cleaning the polluted Mithi River, clean Hospitals & schools, construct innovative bio-toilets.
The help, guidance and assistance of you would be required to make this a success and to fulfil our dream of a Clean India. Do not hesitate to join us at Swachhalay. Please feel free to suggest any changes to the plan. We hope to embark on a journey of #SwachhBharat together, along with you!
We are based in Mumbai, but encourage workers from all across the globe, for you can work with us online as well. So hurry and drop us a message [email protected] and check our all our social media links mentioned here!
